“Food and Ag at the Intersection” Symposium To Focus on Consumer Trends Shaping Investment in Agriculture
Speakers and attendees will be from organizations across the country and throughout the food supply chain
(OMAHA, Neb.) – Mar. 29, 2019 Lindsay Corporation, Farmers National Company and Gavilon announced they will jointly sponsor and host the first Food and Ag at the Intersection Symposium, a two-day event that will focus on analyzing the consumer trends disrupting the food production industry, and dialogue around how producers and industry organizations are responding to the changes these trends are driving. The event will be held in Omaha, Nebraska, May 1 and 2, 2019.
The event will take place at the Omaha Marriott Downtown, Capitol District, and will open with a welcome reception on the evening of Wednesday, May 1. Thursday, May 2, activities kick off at 8 a.m., with a keynote address titled “Consumer Trends Affecting the Future of Food and Farming.” Following will be three expert panels further discussing key trends changing the face of the industry, the industry’s response to consumer demands and “The Next Big Things in Food & Ag.” The symposium will conclude at 3 p.m.
“At Farmers National, we see a wide variety of trends changing how farmers farm – across nearly every aspect of the industry,” said Jim Farrell, president and CEO of Farmers National Company. “The more we discussed it with our customers and others in the industry, from researchers to agronomists to equipment manufacturers, we realized we could achieve a lot by having key players come together to have an open dialogue about these changes.”
“As a manufacturer and distributor of irrigation equipment and technology across six continents, we are fortunate to serve farmers all over the world and gain first-hand insight into both the local and global headwinds they face,” said Randy Wood, president of irrigation at Lindsay Corporation. “We see value in fostering the kind of dialogue this symposium promotes; the more we can come together as an industry to understand macro trends impacting all of us, the better we will be able to deliver the kind of innovations our customers need.”
“Deep understanding of industry trends is essential to our business, managing commodities for farmers around the world,” said Ankush Bhandari, vice president, economic research at The Gavilon Group, LLC. “We have to not only recognize important trends, but we also have to know which ones are going to make a significant mark on the industry, and we have to help our customers stay on top and ahead of them. Open discussions with other industry leaders benefits all of us in helping farmers succeed and thrive in these challenging times.”
Registration for the event is open now and costs $225 per person. To see the complete agenda and speaker line-up, and to register, visit www.foodandagattheintersection.com.
