Congrats to the Corn Yield Contest Winners
Feb 24, 2020
Mother Nature was not kind to most of America’s corn growers last year, but that didn’t stop them from hitting new highs in the 2019 National Corn Yield Contest.
“This year growers in the Corn Belt battled record spring rainfall which delayed planting in many locations as well as horrible late season and harvest conditions,” said Albert Maurin, product manager, irrigation software at Lindsay. “However, with innovative growing practices and advanced technologies, this year’s winners were able to overcome those challenges and achieve impressive yields.”
The 27 national winners in nine production categories had verified yields averaging more than 383 bushels per acre, compared to the projected national average of 167 bushels per acre in 2019.
Among this year’s honorees are 39 FieldNET® customers and nearly a dozen customers who also use FieldNET Advisor®.
“We congratulate our customers and all of this year’s winners,” Maurin said. “With FieldNET and FieldNET Advisor, growers, like those in this contest, are increasing efficiency and profit while exercising more sustainable farming practices.”
Now in its 55th year, the annual Corn Yield Contest is sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association. The 2019 winners will be honored during Commodity Classic 2020 in San Antonio, Texas.
